My cousin and I with my Grandma Edith.

I Love You

2015 | 8 years old

A poem in remembrance of Edith Fister, Marcus Fister, Alexander Taneo, and Lilia Taneo. I had lost my Grandma Edith and my Uncle Marcus in that recent year, and navigated my grief through writing.

I love you.

How are you doing up there? Where are you now? Just where?

I love you.

Another day has passed without you.

I’ve got something to ask, what will I do?

I love you.

You were the person I wanted to be, but then I realized the only person I am is me.

I love you.

I wish you were here, but above the clouds I cannot peer.

Through the bedroom window, your voice I can still hear.

I love you, I really do.

My Grandpa Alex singing to me, at age 5, as my grandmother laughs off camera.
